Starcraft II (2)

Noticias de várias fontes e videos de demonstração (que se focam nos Protoss):

Protoss
zealots - still has psi blades and personal shield - new charge ability that let him quickly close range on enemies. The charge allows them to rapidly advance a short distance, and works as a passive ability.
new unit: immortals - have special shield that only activates upon being powerfully attacked - siege tanks could barely do any damage to them.
New unit: Stalker: a quadripedal unit that can blink, or teleport, forward a short distance. From the demonstration, there seems to be a rather quick cooldown on this ability.
New unit: Colossus - huge unit that can blast out dual lasers and use long legs to traverse differences in terrain height - in the demo two of them obliterate about fifty or so zerglings. Colossus using new IK system to move across differences in terrain height. Colossus extremely weak against air strike
New unit: Pheonix - can overcharge guns for multiple projectile blast - but after blast the ship is rendered inert for a short period. The demonstration showed four of them simultaneously initiate this ability, ravaging a swarm of Zerg Mutalisks.
New unit: Warp Ray - flying unit that does increased damage the longer it hits a target with its continuous blue laser. Terran battle cruisers could not be destroyed by phoenix units but some Warp Ray could destroy then. Warp Ray also very effective against structures but very vulnerable to small unit fire - demo shows Warp Rays getting wiped out by terran marines.
New unit: protoss mothership - giant floating base - can only have one at a time - cost big resources - special abilities include timebomb that slows all enemy missiles inside a sphere field - demo shows terran missle launcher shooting in projectiles that stop in the field before they reach the ship - when field ends missiles drop the ground - they also have a planet cracker attack where giant lasers stream from ship to ground - ship can be moved around while planet cracker laser is active - the ship looks like a metallic, triangular sand dollar - mothership can create a black hole anywhere it wants to - creates distortion that actually sucks ships in and destroys them - in the demo the black hole destroyed four terran battle cruisers in about ten seconds.
New Unit: Phase Prism: These things can transport Protoss units quickly across the battlefield. They're also capable of acting as replacement pylons, powering all structures within range should a pylon be destroyed.

Protoss can now warp in units from manufacturing facilities anything within pylon range (or activated Phase Prism).
Protoss can use phase fields and teleporting abilities to create an army anywhere on the battlefield.

Terran
new unit: Reapers - These guys look a little like Marines, but carry dual machine pistols that don't activate protoss immortals and can hop across uneven terrain with jump packs.
In the demo three nukes were launched at once.

Zerg
New unit: giant worms pop out of ground and unleash zerglings.
Zerglings can mutate into suicidal bomb things that roll across the ground and take on a greenish hue - very powerful explosions - particularly deadly.

General
Physics system lets debris from Warp Ray roll down a ramp.
Framerate seems relatively stable as more units stream in.
Space platform environment, land mass floating over planets / nebulae.
the game look very similar to SC1 in 3D with nearly identical user interface, graphical style and unit proportions.
Player can select as many units as desired.
The nuke warning is large and has a timer which tells all players how close the nuke is to dropping. If you watch the demo, it is the red balls that move from the outer ring of the warning towards the middle.
Some units are able to step up and down from cliffs, make fortifed bases less impenetrable.
The pathing seems REALLY REALLY improved, like those zealots in the begining of the gameplay vid, when the last ones arrived the other moved a short distance to make room and ended up standing really close. Those imortals charging for those tanks moved in a nice formation. If you have looked at the artwork video you will see a shitload of zerglings overrunning a protoss base, and they float really nice, doesn't seem to stuck at all (like in sc1 and wc3). I don't think i saw the units block each other one single time in those videos when they where walking, apart from 1 jetjumper that missed the jump into the protos base and had to move back to try again, but that was sent a to big deal
